Amnesia, Miami’s newest nightclub, is setting the standards for night life in Miami. Located in the same place where the original Amnesia nightclub stood back in 1993, this completely redesign venue is everything club go-oers could ask for. The newly built roof provides cover for the 26,000 square feet multi-leveled internal space (to give you a comparison LIV has 22,000 square feet). Completely decked out with over 150 intelligent light fixtures, a full Funktion One sound system, and my particular favorite five moveable LED walls, all meant to heighten the clubbing experience. The venue hosts 70 VIP tables, and 2 vip sections, however, its centerpiece is the dancefloor, a large dancing area situated right in front of the DJ booth with arena style seating for general admission to take a seat in between the dancing.
Thought we tried getting as much information as possible about Amnesia we still had some questions unanswered so we decided to do something about it. We sat down with Gianfranco Dossena, Director of Marketing & Talent Buyer for Amnesia, to get some of our questions answered.
How did Amnesia come to be, who is behind it, and how is Bob Sinclar involved?
Amnesia is part-owned by Gregory Boudou and Andre Boudou, who were the original owners of Amnesia back in 1993, at the time Amnesia was the best club in Miami for 5 years. Gregory and Andre Boudou are also the owners of Amnesia in France, but have no relation to the Amnesia in Ibiza. Bob Sinclar is one of the owner of the club, and as a DJ he has given significant input in the construction of the club, implementing a design that fans can enjoy, building for an experience between the DJ and the fans.
What type of music are you looking to bring to Miami?
Thursdays – open format, live shows, band, indie electro, disco party
Fridays- “Magic Circus” brand bringing underground music
Saturdays- House music for the masses. Including a residency with Defected Records.
What events do you have coming up?
Aside from the Opening party with Bob Sinclar on Oct 21 and Joachim Garraud on Oct 22 Amnesia is getting the best of the best to perform at their new club, such as their residency with Defected Records and the still unannounce booking of Wally Lopez for November 18th. What can we expect from the Amnesia experience?
Amnesia is not just another club night. With a custom light show, LED video display walls, and dancers that are integrated into the DJs performance, Amnesia is bringing something new to the market, creating a new experience for the fans, and with a dance floor to go with it.
