Anatomy of a Mashup: Definitive Daft Punk Visualized

I’m sure all of you party peoples have heard numerous mashups in your years of listening to electronic music and are well aware of the basic idea of what a mashup is. Well, not anymore. In an incredibly creative and innovative project, an internet web designer known as “The Man in Blue” (aka Cameron Adams) created a page in which you may see mashups as never before.

Essentially, the Anatomy of a Mashup gathers Daft Punk’s discography, “Definitive Daft Punk” and creates a mashup of all of the duo’s greatest and most exciting hits. At the bottom of the screen you can see the beginning, duration and ending of each track as well as what tracks are being mixed with it. This is all even more interactive as the play button in the center of the screen shows a similar stratigraphy of the tracks and even signals when a new track starts by showing the name of the song and when it is augmented.

The Man in Blue’s project is a masterpiece of musical cutting, layering and equalizing with a visualization and design that brings the whole process to a very clear image. We suggest you all take a listen to the innovative workings of this artistic DJ and how mashups look like. Click below and enjoy one amazing mashup.
